I received a call this morning from a dear friend. She had just received news that she was being made redundant. Immediately! It was a real shock as there wasn’t even a whisper of it happening. It was exactly the opposite, they were recruiting and promoting. And even though she wasn’t one hundred percent happy there, it still came as a bit of a slap to the face.
Prior to the call I was procrastinating on what to do next in my little world. I had an appointment postpone and found myself pottering around… It’s a beautiful day, the second day of summer, so why not I thought! But then the guilts started popping into my head… ‘You’ve got so many projects you’re working on – get stuck into them! And it’s not the weekend yet!’ ‘Remember you said you were going to start that tax thing!’ ‘You should be working on the business, there’s always something to do’.
The thing is, I LOVE my business and I’m so grateful to be in a position where I can choose to potter or be productive, I must admit though, I wasn’t really doing either. I was guilty of procrastinating. So, I packed up my laptop and decided to work from a café. It was on my stroll to this little beachy getaway that I answered my friend’s call.
She could have gone down a dark hole of fear for her future and then lose herself in the collective fear that is rife now…she didn’t, and I wouldn’t have let her either.
Instead, we talked. We recognised how important it was to walk into the fear and see it for what it was… a story of made-up scenarios… none of them real. In this moment everything was fine. We talked and walked through the low hanging shadows and out the other side. We recognised it for what it was – an indirect route to where you want to go. The thing is; my friend had been procrastinating about looking for another job or even starting her own business… she just hadn’t stopped to make the choice yet.
According to the Google:
“…Procrastination is the force that prevents you from following through on what you set out to do.”
So… May the force be with you on your sprint, run, walk, skip, or stroll through life. Procrastination is just a little stumble that helps you give of yourself more, be more, do more. Or. That stumble is asking you to ask for help.
In a bout of non-procrastination this morning, I asked the cards these two questions; and of course, they gave of themselves perfectly:
Find me the energy to stop procrastinating and find my creative space!
The Six of Materials/Pentacles is a whisper from The Lovers card asking you to make a choice. It’s about giving and receiving. Where do you want to spend your time and energy? How do you want to spend it? And who do you want to spend it with? If you are happy with where you are now, you will be rewarded. The energy of a stronger relationship, a pay rise or the offer a new role is close. Or maybe it's time to increase you’re the fees in your business. New client energy are being offered.
Sometimes choices can feel like they are made for us, but really, they’re not. We still get to choose how we react to the situation so don’t despair, you’ll be offered something soon and you’ll get to choose – ‘Do I want this? Or is there a better option?’ How can you be of service? Maybe volunteering? Or starting a business where you share your expertise and give to others this way.
What have you been procrastinating about that is ready to be shifted? Maybe it’s time to make the choice and just do it.
The energy needed to stay connected to my creative space.
The Ace of Emotions/Cups. The heart space is a stunning place of deep connection with source energy, yourself, and your inner child. Start with something constructive, anything – just give it a go. Trial and error can be your best friend. Start that project even though you don’t know all the moves. Maybe write yourself or your special someone a love letter or ask someone how they’re feeling. Maybe even pick up a favourite book and read a page to keep you flowing. And drink water, lots of it. These are all ideas to staying connected to your creative space.
